Sheet Music Plans

We hope to make sheet music available from a variety of sources of traditional chant and Orthodox hymns. Where already available, we plan to link to the music that comes from other sources that are referenced or recorded by us.

Being members of the Antiochian Archdiocese Christian Archdioces, we are greatly indebted to its rich heritage and the direction of our pastor, Fr. Paul, and His Grace, Bishop JOSEPH. A source of a number of our hymns can be found at the Archdiocese's Sacred Music site and at the Diocese of Los Angeles and the West Music Page.

Over the last several years, we have been developing a large repertoire of the special melodies (Prosomia) that are specified for use every day in the liturgical books. For the most part, we are using the excellent metered English translations by Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Brookline, MA. Thanks to a generous donor we have found the HTM Menaion to be a great aid in becoming familiar with these traditional melodies. (See Byzantine Prosomia, The Chanter's Companion)

We are also greatly indebted to the work by St. Anthony's Monastery — the Divine Liturgies Music Project. When the music is not already available, we are attempting to apply the traditional techniques (as best we can with God's help) outlined in their work on Byzantine Music Formulae.
